WHAT IS ACTING?
Acting is the human ability of giving life and voice to those who don’t have it. While some characters are fictional, others mimic the dramatic and most vulnerable moments of an individual whose life is immortalized by a writer whom in one way or another became fascinated by their life. Both fictional and real life characters have one thing in common… A soul. It is the responsibility and joy of the actor to bring that soul alive.
For centuries, writers, directors and actors have proposed, argued, taught, theorized, experienced, performed giving use to countless and divergent methods, better known as techniques.
Many of these techniques have become well known and recognized around the globe, and adopted by hundreds of thousands of students and actors, facilitating and guiding their human abilities into shaping their own craft.
Many of these globally recognized teachings and techniques include: The Meisner Technique (Sanford Meisner), Chekhov Technique (Michael Chekhov), Stanislavski’s Method (Konstantin Stanislavsky), Method Acting (Lee Strasberg), Adler Technique (Stella Adler), among several others… Apprentices and fellow members learn, adopt and adapt.
As an actor, throughout my life I have had the privilege to learn and use many of these techniques, which have helped me understand and connect with my inner soul, which helps me create my craft by making choices that connect the fictional character with the reality of my persona, which gives permission to provide my characters with what I consider the most important quality of an act… Authenticity.
I can’t stress anymore how important it is to expose yourself to experiment with different techniques. No matter how widely recognized a method can be, these are no recipes, there are not specific instructions or manuals that would ever make you a great actor. Becoming a real actor consists in allowing yourself to connect with the deepest and most vulnerable feelings and emotions that exist within you, in an effort to recognize your feelings, which can be either an encounter with your own personal life experiences or the magnificent product of your imagination.
No matter what you choose, the important thing is to practice constantly and experiment it all; allow yourself to approach every choice you make with passion and love, while permitting yourself to be something you are not, be bold, take risks and live the adventure as if nobody was there watching you… Only you, your character, and whoever you are sharing the stage with.

THE CLASS…
As a coach, my first goal is to understand your own goals as an actor and as a human being, and transmit you my passion for the performing arts.
My program consists of sessions, which can take place both in-person at a NYC studio (or at my in-home studio *case by case), or virtually over Zoom.
During each class there’s time dedicated to understanding the basics and principles of acting, followed by what I call ‘self recognition’, which will allow you to build a strong foundation based in the identification of patterns, tics, habits, posture, sounds and gestures you use in your daily life, in an effort to improve and correct those which may or may not affect your acting experience, while strengthening those qualities that make you the incredible and authentic human being that you are.
The session is followed by on-feet practice, which means… ACTION!!!
Time to practice monologues and scenes that will help you create characters to strengthen your acting skills, while putting in practice the various techniques used in class.
Script Analysis is one of the most important and consequential skills that an actor needs to learn, practice and master. We work on script analysis every class.

LORENA’s PASSION FOR TEACHING…
I have experience coaching young children as young as 8 years old, teenagers and young adults, including my two children, Mateo & Regina since they were little kids; with pride I can say that Regina has recently graduated from NYU Tisch Drama, and Mateo has so far been seen in several commercials and is best known for his recurring guest star roles in some major network & streaming tv-shows.
At the personal level I have been trained at Stella Adler Studio of Acting NYC, The Barrow Group, and I have participated in countless workshops based in the Stanislaskiv’s Method, Chekhov Technique, etc. Take a look at my RESUME
Acting is my passion! Sharing my skills and love for this art with others is something that makes me incredibly happy and proud.
During my sessions I use materials, scripts, scenes and monologues that are age appropriate, which allow my students to develop their skills at a pace that’s tailored to their needs.
I’m a firm believer that practice and reinforcement techniques work great with children and adults alike.
I believe that acting games and mock scenarios help students in strengthening their confidence, both as actors, as well as in their real world life, because as William Shakespeare said… “All The World’s A Stage”
